The Challenges
To replace Lanfranco's current Unix (Cobol) based manufacturing system with a new modern system that allows customers to place orders directly into the system.

The Solution
SRA developed a web-based system that enables orders to be entered by Lanfraco's customers directly over the Internet or by Lanfranco staff for orders that have been faxed or phoned through. Lanfranco staff can then view the orders for checking and accepting.
Once accepted, the system prepares all the order lines ready for "batching". The Lanfranco management team makes the batching decisions at their weekly meeting. From this meeting, administrative staff members select each line that has been selected for batching and mark it with the relevant section. The system sorts these and places lines into suitable batches.
Various "job" reports can be printed for the specific areas within the organisation to use in determining what needs to be created. The factory then cuts/creates the various components and the items of furniture are assembled.
About a week prior to a batch completing, the system is used to generate shipping labels, print invoices (via automated integration with the MYOB Accounting package) and create the dispatch manifests.
